The short version
Plumped earns commission when you buy some products through links in our app or on our website. It costs you nothing extra. It does not change what we recommend to you.
1. How we make money
Plumped is free to use. We fund the Service through affiliate commission.
We work with the affiliate network Awin Ltd. When we link to a product at a retailer that participates in the network, and you click that link and then buy, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale.
We may add other affiliate networks or direct partnerships in future. When we do, we will update this page.
2. What this costs you
Nothing. You pay the same price you would pay if you went to the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not out of your pocket.
3. What it does not change
This is the part that matters most, so we want to be direct about it.
- Recommendations are based on your skin profile, not on commission. Our routine engine works from your attribute scores, your stated concerns and ingredient compatibility. Commission rate is not an input to it.
- We do not rank products by how much we earn. A product that pays us nothing can and does appear above a product that pays us well.
- We recommend products you already own. Where your existing products suit your skin, we say so and suggest no purchase. We only suggest a swap where there is a reason we can explain to you.
- We are not paid to say a product is good. No brand pays us for a favourable verdict, a placement, or a position in a list.
- We do not currently sell sponsored placements or paid advertising. If that ever changes, any paid placement will be labelled clearly as an advertisement at the point where you see it, not buried in a policy page.
4. What we sell and what we do not
We do not sell products. We are a comparison and decision engine. When you buy, the contract is between you and the retailer.
That means the retailer, not Plumped, is responsible for:
- taking and fulfilling your order;
- the price, the stock position and the delivery;
- the authenticity and condition of the product;
- returns, refunds and warranty claims;
- their own privacy practices.
If something goes wrong with an order, contact the retailer. We will help you find the right contact if you ask, but we cannot resolve it for you.
5. How to spot an affiliate link
Affiliate links are labelled in the app and on the website. Where a product card, list or recommendation contains one, you will see a clear label such as "We may earn a commission" next to it, not only in the page footer.
6. Tracking
When you click an affiliate link, Awin sets a cookie or passes a tracking parameter so that a later purchase can be attributed to Plumped. This records the fact of the click, the product, and the time. It is used for commission reconciliation.
We ask for your consent before setting affiliate cookies. If you decline, the links still work and you can still buy the product. We simply will not be paid for it.
Details are in the Cookie Policy. The lawful basis and retention period are in the Privacy Policy.
7. Regulatory position
We publish this disclosure to comply with:
- the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, which require commercial relationships behind a recommendation to be made clear;
- the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct and Promotional Marketing, known as the CAP Code, enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority;
- the Competition and Markets Authority guidance on online choice architecture and hidden advertising.
8. Questions
If you think a recommendation looks commercially motivated, tell us. We will explain why it appeared, and if we got it wrong we will fix it.
